Santa Fe Springs : Council OKs Doubling Size of Senior Citizen Center

July 15, 1993

Senior citizens in Santa Fe Springs will have a bigger building in which to have dances and nutrition programs next year, officials said.

The City Council last week unanimously approved $650,000 to more than double the size of the Lake Center Athletic Park building, Public Works Director John Price said.

Work is scheduled to begin in early 1994 to add 4,700 square feet to the 4,000-square-foot center at 11641 E. Florence Ave.

The council also approved $535,000 to restore the second floor of the historic Clarke Estate at 10211 Pioneer Blvd. and to create a display at the Heritage Park railroad exhibit at 12100 Mora Drive.

The projects were part of a $21.7-million program of public works projects the city has scheduled for the next three years.
