Pasadena : Head of AIDS Center Leaving

July 18, 1993

Mary Nalick, executive director of All Saints AIDS Service Center, has announced that she will leave her position as soon as a replacement is selected.

Nalick, who became executive director in 1991, led the agency from a small support service of All Saints Church in Pasadena to a full-service AIDS and HIV service center.

When she began, the center served fewer than 100 clients. Under her guidance, service has expanded to more than 500 regular cases and thousands of others who get information, education, referral and counseling. Also, the volunteer base has increased from about 300 to more than 650.

Nalick, 49, said she is leaving to "take a break" and care for an ill friend.

In 1992, she received the George Moscone Award, given to a heterosexual who has best demonstrated commitment to the movement for gay and lesbian rights.
