Food Contractor Sentenced to 2 Years: Alexander Patrick Amistadi, president of Yucaipa-based AGS Food Inc., the largest military food supplier on the West Coast, was sentenced to 24 months in prison following his guilty plea last April to defrauding the Pentagon of more than $500,000. About 100 supporters--mainly relatives and members of Amistadi's church--crowded a federal courtroom in downtown Los Angeles to hear U.S. District Judge Terry J. Hatter Jr. pass sentence. Prosecutors said AGS, at Amistadi's direction, submitted bogus claims from 1989 through 1992, inflating the cost of products sold to military bases.
