Southern California Artists Chosen for Fellowships

Nine Southern California artists are among 30 recipients of 1993 Regional Visual Arts Fellowships from the Western States Arts Federation/National Endowment for the Arts. Each artist will receive a cash award of $5,000 and have their work featured in a nationally distributed four-color catalogue. In addition, WESTAF will provide up to $1,000 per artist to assist nonprofit institutions in showing their work.

Local sculpture recipients are Lauren Lesko and Ross Rudel of Los Angeles and San Diego's Jean Lowe; local photography recipients are Alhambra's Gavin Lee, Long Beach's Cristina Salvador and Don Gregorio Anton of Arcata; and, in the crafts category, local recipients are Cindy Kolodziejski of Venice and Chula Vista's Eric D. Nation.

Ten recipients were recognized in each category, representing 22 cities and eight states.

Name omitted-- Albert J. Winn of West Hollywood was a winner in the photography category of Southern California-based winners of the 1993 WESTAF/National Endowment for the Arts Regional Fellowships for Visual Arts. Winn's name was left off a list in Monday's Calendar.
