A twin-engine plane ran out of fuel before it crashed, killing six people, but it is unclear why the pilot was unable to glide to a landing, an investigator said.
Why he lost control may never be known, said Don Llorente, a supervisory air safety investigator with the National Transportation Safety Board. Witnesses said the plane spiraled out of control Sunday before it nose-dived into the ground in Lancaster, about six miles from a small airport it had radioed for landing instructions.
