Gardener's Checklist

August 01, 1993

For dedicated gardeners, here are suggestions from the California Assn. of Nurserymen on what to do in the garden this week: * Water your container plants properly. The root ball should be thoroughly soaked. You can either dunk them into a bucket or run water very slowly with a hose. Fill up the container several times and allow water to soak through. * Try portulaca, lantana, bush germander and rockrose for plants that love the heat and whose blooms beautify your garden. * There is still time for another crop of beans, corn and radishes. * Before transplanting any bedding plants, prepare the soil, clean out any dead or diseased plant material and water the bed lightly a day or two before putting out the plants.
