Eight of Mayor Richard Riordan's key appointees to citizen commissions received unanimous confirmation Tuesday from the Los Angeles City Council.
The eight residents will sit on the Airport and Harbor commissions--key panels in pushing Riordan's plans for increasing the efficiency of city government.
Approved for the Airport Commission were downtown lawyer Patricia M. Schnegg, homeless shelter provider Martha Brown Hicks, Warner Bros. executive Dan Garcia and housing developer Warren Valdry. The fifth member of the panel, lawyer Ted Stein, was previously confirmed.
Approved for the Harbor Commission were real estate executive Steven L. Soboroff; Wilmington neighborhood activist Gertrude Schwab; Lee Anderson, wife of former U.S. Rep. Glenn M. Anderson, and businesswoman Carol Rowen. McDonald's franchise owner Frank Sanchez's confirmation hearing has not yet been held.
