August 14, 1993|FRANK MESSINA

A 28-year-old woman who was kidnaped and beaten early Friday was listed in stable condition at an area hospital, authorities said.

Orange County Sheriff's deputies are looking for a man who grabbed the woman from the laundry area of her apartment building on the 34000 block of Copper Lantern shortly after midnight.

In a brief interview given to investigators after the assault, the victim said she was forced into a blue car and driven to an unknown area, where the man beat her. He then returned her to the apartment complex and drove away, said Sheriff's Lt. Dick Olson.

The woman, who was hospitalized with facial injuries, described her kidnaper as being about 24 years old, 5 feet, 8 inches tall and of medium build. She said the man may have lived at her apartment building several months ago.

Olson said there were no immediate indications of sexual assault.
