Fence to Deter Straying Students

August 15, 1993

A 10-foot-tall fence is being erected around Bell Gardens High School to keep students from straying off campus.

High school officials requested the fence because the campus is being converted into a closed campus. The Montebello Unified School District board last week approved spending nearly $32,000 for the fence, business manager Glenn J. Sheppard said.

Work on the fence is expected to be finished by the time school opens Sept. 8.

Students will be prevented from leaving during lunch or wandering off the campus without an excuse. Outsiders will have to go to the main office to be allowed on campus.
