August 19, 1993

COSTA MESA — Litronic Industries of Costa Mesa said Tuesday that it has won a $9.6-million contract to provide encryption and electronic signature protection for Army Corps of Engineers financial management installations around the world.

About 100 jobs will be created during the coming year at privately held Litronic's Costa Mesa plant. The company now has about 50 employees.

"We see this contract as the tip of the iceberg for this technology," Litronic Industries spokesman Bob Gray said Tuesday. "There are applications in the medical profession, in hospitals, and when it comes to (identification cards for) food stamps and Immigration and Naturalization Services."
