WEEKEND TV : Actors Give Showtime, HBO Shows Direction

August 21, 1993|N. F. MENDOZA

It's no surprise that actors often aspire to be directors. On Sunday, Kiefer Sutherland ("Flatliners") directs and stars in "Last Light" (9 p.m. on Showtime), a drama about an inmate on Death Row befriended by a guard (Forest Whitaker). The film was shot in Los Angeles and the set from the 1979 Clint Eastwood movie "Escape From Alcatraz" was used in the production.

Whitaker will take his turn behind the camera tonight at 8 in HBO's "Strapped," starring Bokeem Woodbine.
