Pasadena : Caltech's New Fund-Raiser

August 29, 1993

Caltech has selected a former Harvard University administrator to head its fund-raising efforts.

In October, J. Ernest (Jerry) Nunnally, 46, will take charge of Caltech's national fund-raising campaign.

"I am quite delighted to be joining the Caltech development team," he said.

As assistant vice president and director of development, Nunnally, an African-American, will become the institute's highest-ranking minority official, Caltech officials said.

He has been part of Harvard's development staff since 1985. He served as the director of school relations, director of corporations and foundations and most recently as director of university development.

He moved to Harvard from Dartmouth College, where he was director of foundation and corporate relations from 1977 to 1985.

Nunnally received his bachelor's degree from Dillard University in New Orleans, and got a master's degree in education from Harvard in 1984.

He will live in Pasadena.
