City of Pasadena Plans Art Residency Program

September 03, 1993

The Pasadena City Council, which two months ago threatened to take away the city's funding for arts grants, has established an artist-in-residency program that will house four artists over a two-year period at the Civic Center West Project.

Using funding from the 1% Public Art in Downtown Redevelopment Projects program, artists will each get a 1,100-by-1,800-square-foot live/work space in exchange for producing two annual on-site exhibitions and/or performances and six master classes or lectures for youth or seniors in schools, community centers or child-care facilities.

Artists will be chosen by lottery during a Pasadena City Council meeting.

Information: (818) 568-1220.
