OUTLOOK

Word in the Pacific Coast League is Costa Mesa has its best team in some time, and with nine senior starters back on offense and six seniors on defense, the Mustangs should do no worse than spoil someone's league title hopes, if not challenge for the title themselves. Costa Mesa also picked up a two-way starter in Crenshaw, a transfer from Edison, and Chatman from Foothill, who will start at cornerback and rotate at flanker. Taylor, the MVP from the freshman team, will be put to use at linebacker. Blessed with good size and speed, the Mustangs' burden is a lack of depth--between five and eight players will go both ways--and that can't be too healthy as the season wears on.
