Covina : Workshops on Composting

September 09, 1993

The city is offering a series of workshops to teach residents how to turn their yard clippings and fruit and vegetable scraps into compost that can revitalize home gardens.

The city wants to discourage citizens from discarding organic waste--which takes up landfill space--and turn it into compost. At the workshops, experts will show residents how to turn the waste into compost to be worked into the soil around plants. The compost adds nutrients to the soil and reduces the amount of watering that is necessary.

Composting workshops will be at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 18 and 25 and 10 a.m. Oct. 30. at the city's new compost demonstration site, on the east side of Wingate Park at 735 N. Glendora Ave.
