September 11, 1993|DEAN HILL | SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

CERRITOS — Senior Mike Tomasch, playing just his second game at quarterback for Mammoth Lakes Mammoth, threw two touchdown passes to Scott Thompson as the visiting Huskies scored a 19-0 victory over Southern California Christian in a nonleague game Friday night at Cerritos Valley Christian.

Tomasch, who completed 13 of 23 passes for 112 yards, connected eight times with Thompson, who finished with 91 yards receiving.

Thompson also anchored a Mammoth defensive unit that held the Flames (0-1) to 54 yards total offense, most of which came in the second half.

Mammoth opened the scoring early in the second quarter on Ernesto Bravo's one-yard run, which capped a 43-yard, 12-play drive. Bravo kicked the extra point to give Mammoth a 7-0 lead.

The Huskies scored the next time they had the ball on a four-yard pass to Thompson. The extra point was blocked.

Mammoth's final score came in the third period after a punt by Southern California Christian went minus 11 yards and was downed on the Flames' one-yard line. On the third play from scrimmage, Tomasch connected with Thompson for the final touchdown. A pass attempt for the extra point failed.

Ron Wood was the Flames' leading offensive performer, rushing for 35 yards in seven carries.
