Ethnic rivals in Croatia and Bosnia fought fierce battles, ignoring a truce agreed to by their respective presidents and U.N. efforts to broker a cease-fire between Serbs and Croats. Hours after Serbs shot down a Croatian plane on a bombing raid over their Krajina enclave, the Serbian command reported heavy artillery duels on the northern Dalmatian front. In Geneva, Presidents Alija Izetbegovic of Bosnia-Herzegovina and Franjo Tudjman of Croatia announced agreement on an immediate cease-fire between Muslim and Croat forces in Bosnia.
