Thumbs Up for Linkup: Satellite Technology Management Inc. said Wednesday that it had received federal permission to link up to satellites in order to move television signals, voice services and data between countries.

The Costa Mesa maker of communications equipment said the Federal Communications Commission granted it a license to establish links between U.S. Earth stations and INTELSAT and PanAmSat satellites.

The company, which already sells equipment such as modems in Latin America, Europe and the Far East, said that initially it will market the new service to its customers in those regions.
