Family Conference to Stress Finance

The Center for Spiritual Development in Orange, celebrating its eighth year, will honor Precious Life Shelter founders Don and Theresa Sherrin with the Spirituality in Action Award. The shelter for homeless pregnant women opened in April, 1992, and is a source of financial assistance, educational training and emotional support.

Also at the center, a "Weekend With St. Francis of Assisi" retreat begins Friday. Cost is $100 for private room and board, $75 for shared room and board or $60 for commuters, which includes lunch. The center is at 434 S. Batavia St. Information: (714) 744-3175.

Orange Hills Assembly will celebrate its 50th anniversary on Sunday during the 10:30 a.m. service. It was formerly known as the Orange First Assembly of God Church. The featured speaker will be the Rev. Phil Robinette, who was pastor from 1968 to 1984.

The Rev. Joseph LoMusio, pastor of Temple Baptist Church in Fullerton, was recently installed as president of Biblical International, a Christian college.

Minister of Adult Education Timothy L. Fearer of Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Santa Ana will be ordained Sunday during a special 5 p.m. service by representatives of Los Ranchos Presbytery. After his ordination, he will serve as pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Port Hueneme.

In celebration of the beginning of "The Year of the Family" religious education program at St. Timothy Catholic Community, an outdoor Mass is planned for Sunday at 9:30 a.m. at the Saddleback College Stadium. The program will feature Family Faith classes throughout the year.

The church also offers an "International Rosary," which is said the first Saturday of each month at 9 a.m. in the church hall. Languages used have included French, Polish, Spanish, Dutch and English. The church is at 29102 Crown Valley Parkway, Laguna Niguel. Information: (714) 495-4862.

Father Fergus Clarke will be installed as pastor of St. Joseph Church in Placentia by the Most Rev. Norman McFarland, bishop of the Diocese of Orange, on Sunday at noon.
