DIAMOND BAR — El Dorado's option pass was intercepted with 24 seconds left to seal Diamond Bar's 20-14 victory over the Golden Hawks Friday at Diamond Bar High School.

El Dorado was on the Diamond Bar 38 when wide receiver Jeff Moore took a handoff on a reverse play and started around the left end. He pulled up and passed, but the ball was intercepted by Diamond Bar's Scott Williams on his own 21.

With El Dorado (1-1) out of timeouts, Diamond Bar (2-0) was easily able to run out the clock.

Quarterback Dan Ruzicka and wide receiver Roderick Ward combined for a pair of first-quarter touchdown pass plays as Diamond Bar opened a 14-0 lead. The first was good for nine yards and the second for 59.

El Dorado answered in the same quarter when Alex Molnar scored from three yards out with 1 minute 31 seconds left in the first quarter. Molnar scored again from three yards out with 2:57 left in the first half to tie it, 14-14.

Diamond Bar scored the eventual winning touchdown when Armon Hatcher went in from one yard out with 5:33 left in the third quarter.

Besides the final drive, El Dorado got as close as the Diamond Bar 33 with about eight minutes left in the game. But El Dorado quarterback Dan Rogers was intercepted to end that drive.
