Nissan, Mitsubishi Boost Prices: The two Japanese auto makers announced price increases of 5.2% and nearly 3.5%, respectively, on 1994 models. Both companies said the yen's rise in value against the dollar, which cuts into profits earned in dollars and repatriated to Japan, prompted the increases over comparably equipped 1993 models. Nissan said the average increase would be $823. Mitsubishi did not give an average increase. Nissan said it was able to offset some effects of the strong yen by building more cars in the United States. Mitsubishi said that after accounting for new standard equipment not included in 1993 models, the average price increase is actually 8.4%.
