PREP GRID ROUNDUP : Calabasas 19, Serra 13

September 24, 1993|JIM COLEMAN

Calabasas is the Spanish word for pumpkin, which seems appropriate considering the way the Calabasas High offensive line carved up visiting Serra in the second half of a nonleague game.

The Coyotes (2-1), who trailed 7-0 at halftime, ground out 242 yards in the second half and rallied for 19 points in the fourth period to win, 19-13.

Calabasas quarterback Ziad Bawarshi's 47-yard completion to David Wymer set up Bawarshi's one-yard touchdown plunge that sealed the victory for the Coyotes with 33 seconds remaining.
