Music, games and food will highlight the Los Angeles Community Festival, an outdoor benefit for the Los Angeles Mission, on Oct. 3 at the Shark Club in Downtown.

The daylong event will include a concert featuring Bang Tango, Dox Haus Mob, Total Eclipse, Michael Kline and the Gypsys, Kurth and Taylor and Suzi Carr , while film and television stars including actor Christopher Lloyd and soap opera stars Sharon Wyatt and Leslie Charlson are scheduled to appear.

Local community groups, businesses and restaurants will have booths with demonstrations, information and food sales.

Admission to the festival at Olympic Boulevard and Grand Avenue is $5, or $4 with a canned food donation or student or military identification.

After the festival, several celebrities are expected to attend a champagne reception at the Shark Club, where items collected from more than 50 entertainers will be auctioned. Among the artists who donated are Janet Jackson, Magic Johnson, Aerosmith, Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Kareem Abdul-Jabaar, according to organizers.

Tickets for the evening party begin at $100.

The festival/reception is the brainchild of a North Hollywood couple, Valerie and Michael Wyman, who initially planned a small benefit concert as a project in a private self-expression and leadership seminar.
