After struggling for three quarters against a determined Fairfax High, Dorsey erupted for 20 fourth-quarter points to defeat the Lions, 27-6, Friday night at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

Behind two touchdowns each from running back Che Johnson and quarterback Roderick Brown, the Dons handed Fairfax its first loss of the season.

"I think that we played much better than we had in our previous games," Dorsey Coach Paul Knox said. "We showed progress in all areas."

Johnson was the game's leading rusher with 92 yards in 16 carries, while his backfield mate, Chris Phillips, gained 76 yards in 16 carries.

Dorsey opened the game with an impressive seven-minute, 12-play drive that featured the running of Phillips. But the Dons came up empty when Fairfax held them on downs at the Lions' six-yard line.

After a Fairfax punt, Dorsey again drove deep into Lion territory on its next possession. With a third-and-10 from the Fairfax 22, Brown threw two consecutive incomplete passes to give the ball back to the Lions.

The next time Dorsey got the ball, Johnson got the call. In an eight-play, 56-yard drive, he ran 40 yards in seven carries and capped the march with a one-yard touchdown run to give Dorsey a 7-0 lead.

In the second half, Fairfax, which had not allowed a score in its first two games, finally got its offense on track.

Behind the passing combination of Myron Terry and AzZahir Hakim, the Lions closed to 7-6 on an one-yard touchdown run by Terry Anderson. Fairfax had its chance to take the lead, but the Dons held them off until Brown and Johnson took over in the fourth quarter.

First, Brown scored on an eight-yard keeper and then Johnson ran for a 29-yard touchdown. The Dons finished their scoring with less than three minutes remaining on a 58-yard interception return by Brown.
