UPS, Teamsters Reach Tentative Contract Accord

September 28, 1993|From Associated Press

United Parcel Service and the Teamsters union agreed on a contract Monday that provides a $2.25-an-hour pay raise spread over four years.

The tentative agreement came after about five months of negotiations in Washington, and three days before a contract extension was to expire.

Teamsters spokesman Bernie Mulligan said the union will recommend ratification.

UPS spokesman John Flick said full-time workers, now making $17.70 an hour, would receive a raise of 60 cents an hour in the first year--about 3.3%--and another 55 cents an hour in each of the subsequent three years.
