Letters to the Valley Edition : School Is Sensitive to Its Neighbors

September 30, 1993

* I wish to correct an impression left by your report on the establishment of Sierra Canyon's middle school (Sept. 17).

As a parent who attended the hearing before the Board of Zoning Appeals, I can attest to the fact that the neighbors who objected could be counted on one hand. Conditions were offered and agreed upon by the school to keep traffic and noise to a minimum. In addition, the school demonstrated that parents and faculty do not use the unpaved roads but instead approach on Rinaldi Street, which is paved and wide.

Having had children at the school for more than five years, I have witnessed how sensitive Sierra Canyon is to the rights and privacy of its neighbors, and indeed have seen testimony from neighbors confirming that sensitivity.
