Pasadena : Libraries Open Extra Day

September 30, 1993

Starting this week, the city's eight library branches are staying open an extra day, and they are celebrating with ribbon-cutting ceremonies.

Pasadena voters June 22 approved a $1.3-million tax enabling the Central Library to be open every day and the eight branches to open five days a week. The branches were open only four days a week because of budget cuts.

The Hastings Branch Library, 3325 E. Orange Ave., will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony today. On Saturday morning, the Santa Catalina Branch, 999 E. Washington Blvd., and the Linda Vista Branch, 1281 Bryant Ave., will have ceremonies, and on Monday the Central Library, 285 E. Walnut Ave., will celebrate.

These branches already have reopened five days: La Pintoresca, 1355 N. Raymond Ave.; Lamada Park, 140 S. Altadena Drive; San Rafael, 1240 Nithsdale Road; Hill, 55 S. Hill Ave. and Allendale, 1130 S. Marengo Ave.

Starting Monday, the Central Library will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

All other branches except Hastings and Lamada Park will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Thursday and Saturday. Lamada and Hastings will be open 1 to 9 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday and Saturday.
