Pasadena : Volunteers to Clean Arroyo

September 30, 1993

As part of a statewide coastal cleanup campaign, volunteers will comb the Arroyo Seco for litter Saturday.

"The trash and debris dumped on the streets and in the storm channels of Pasadena and our region flow all the way to Long Beach. They choke the Arroyo and pollute the ocean as well," said Tim Brick, who is coordinating cleanup of the county's only inland site targeted for the day.

Workers will concentrate on the Arroyo Seco where it flows under the Foothill (210) Freeway, one of the few stretches of unchanneled stream in the metropolitan area. Volunteers for the three-hour project are to meet at 9 a.m. at the south end of the Brookside Park parking lot near the Rose Bowl.
