About 40 Montebello entrepreneurs will be able to receive free financial advice this year from a nonprofit Los Angeles organization hired by the city.
Last week, the City Council unanimously approved a $25,000 business-counseling contract with the Los Angeles Business Development Corp., which also runs a business counseling service for the city of Huntington Park.
To qualify for free counseling, business owners must be residents of Montebello or have offices in the city. They can call the city at (213) 887-1390 to schedule an appointment with a counselor. Spanish and Korean speakers will be available to take calls.
Montebello has financed business-counseling programs since 1989, but this is the first year the Los Angeles Business Development Corp. has been awarded the contract. About 120 businesses have been served.
