Irwin Lincoln, a sophomore reserve cornerback at USC, was arrested early Monday for brandishing a stolen gun while in a car driving past a West Hollywood nightclub, Sheriff's Lt. John Kellaris said.
Lincoln, 22, was charged with receiving stolen property, a felony, and carrying a concealed firearm and loaded firearm in public, each misdemeanors.
He was released Monday night after posting a $10,000 bond. His arraignment is scheduled for Jan. 3 at Criminal Court in Beverly Hills.
Kellaris said witnesses identified Lincoln, a public administration major, as a man who brandished a weapon at about 3:15 a.m. as he and two others drove past the Roxbury nightclub on Sunset Boulevard. Authorities identified the others as Trojans Dwight McFadden, a sophomore running back, and Ken Grace, a junior wide receiver. Neither was detained. Lincoln and Grace attended DeAnza High in Richmond, Calif.
Kellaris said the gun was reported stolen in Texas, prompting the felony charge.
USC Coach John Robinson was unavailable for comment.
