Fire Victims Have Until Feb. 25 to Apply for Loans

Homeowners and business owners who suffered property damage in the fall firestorms will have until Feb. 25 to file for Small Business Administration low-interest loans, the SBA said Thursday.

The agency has approved 460 disaster loans totaling more than $31 million to Southern Californians as a result of the fires, according to Mike Howland, acting regional administrator of the agency in San Francisco.

Loans are available to homeowners for up to $100,000 to repair or replace damaged real estate. Homeowners and renters are eligible for loans of up to $20,000 for personal property losses. Business owners may qualify for up to $1.5 million.

Three agency centers remain open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays: at 664 N. Coast Highway, Laguna Beach; 23661 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu; and 3746 Foothill Blvd., Pasadena.
