COLLEGE FOOTBALL / BOWL REPORT : ORANGE BOWL : Childs May Return to Practice Today

December 26, 1993| Associated Press

Nebraska running back Clinton Childs, who suffered a sprained left ankle during a scrimmage, might return to practice today when the Cornhuskers resume preparations to face No. 1-ranked Florida State in the Orange Bowl.

The team was off Christmas Day, giving other ailing Cornhuskers a chance to heal. They are tackle Christian Peter, slowed by a sore ankle, and fullback Cory Schlesinger, who has shoulder pain. Linebacker Trev Alberts was held out of contact last week because of the dislocated right elbow he suffered in Nebraska's victory over Oklahoma.

Coach Tom Osborne called the Friday scrimmage a good workout and probably the team's last hard practice before the New Year's game.

Running back Calvin Jones said he thought the No. 2-ranked Cornhuskers had adjusted to training conditions in Florida, "considering the climate and humidity."
