The Mutual UFO Network Inc. (MUFON) is a Texas-based international organization with 6,000 members interested in the scientific study of UFOs.

Formed in 1969, it's a grass-roots organization with local chapters whose members pool their professional talents to investigate the UFO phenomenon.

The local chapter, representing Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, meets monthly at 7:30 p.m. in the Cameron Center, 288 W. Green Meadow Road, Thousand Oaks. Annual membership MUFON costs $25, which includes the UFO Journal magazine. Membership in the local chapter is $15 a year and includes the newsletter Swamp Gas.

Admission to local meetings is $5 for non-members and $3 for members.

The next meeting is scheduled for Jan. 28, when hypnotist Ann Druffel's subject will be "Abductions: I Hear You Would Like to Be Abducted. What You Really Need to Know." Druffel, a UFO investigator since 1957, co-authored "The Tujunga Canyon Contacts" with D. Scott Rogo.
