OC HIGH / STUDENT NEWS & VIEWS : Grunge on the Range

January 13, 1994| Youth News Service

While grunge fashion has caught on in Orange County, Los Angeles, San Francisco and other metro areas, the trend has skipped rural communities such as Lake Fallon and Hawthorn, Nev., reports Teen Underground, a newspaper for teens in Nevada. Down on the Range Wranglers still rule supreme, reports the paper.

Teens in Fallon say there is less fashion diversity at the local high school than in the fashion capitals, in part because there are fewer places to shop. "People in Fallon don't know what grunge is," said one teen. "If they do, they are considered weird. People here don't spend a lot of money on clothes."
