Mercedes-Benz Sales Up Sharply: Sales of the luxury cars and trucks in China soared to $313.6 million in 1993, representing a nearly tenfold increase since 1991, the German auto maker said. The Daimler-Benz subsidiary said Chinese customers bought 5,000 cars, mostly top-of-the-line S-Class units, and 300 commercial vehicles last year. The totals in 1991 were 400 cars and 130 commercial vehicles, which generated revenue of $33.9 million.
