POP MUSIC CHARTS

Count 'Em In

January 30, 1994

More alternative rock albums are making the Top 10 these days. The latest to swoop in is Counting Crows' "August and Everything After," which debuted at No. 6 on The Times' Southern California chart--a notch ahead of Smashing Pumpkins' "Siamese Dream." Ace of Base just missed having two singles in the pop Top 10. Its new "Sign" is No. 8, while long-running "All That She Wants" is No. 11. Speaking of long-running hits, if you can believe it, Tag Team's "Whoomp! There It Is"--a hot single last summer--is still selling: No. 16 on the local chart and No. 4 nationally.
