Pepsi to Expand Production: PepsiCo Inc. said it will invest $350 million over the next five years to open 10 bottling plants, aiming to become the top soft drink company in the world's most populous country. "Over the next five years, we will more than double our capacity in China," said James Lawrence, Pepsi's president for the region. In 1993, Pepsi produced 40 million cases of 8-ounce bottles of soda in China, capturing 7% of the market. It said it aims to produce 370 million cases in the near future.
