Heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield, who will fight Michael Moorer April 22 in Las Vegas, has a new trainer--Don Turner.

Holyfield and Emanuel Steward couldn't come to terms. Steward wanted $400,000 and Holyfield offered $300,000. Turner once worked for Steward.

Jurisprudence

Dave Stewart criticized police in the Tampa suburb of Dunedin, Fla., for their handling of a nightclub argument that led to the arrests of the Toronto Blue Jays pitcher and teammate Todd Stottlemyre.

Stewart denied he or Stottlemyre struck anyone during the incident early Sunday. He also disputed reports that said his refusal to pay a $3 cover charge led to the confrontation.

"Anything that I did was in reaction to what was done to me," said Stewart, who was out on the town celebrating his 37th birthday.
