6-Year-Old Shot, Critically Wounded

A 6-year-old girl was in critical condition after being shot in the chest with a shotgun Friday night at her Watts home.

Paramedics called to the home found the girl unconscious and barely breathing and then transported her to Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman said.

Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department's Southeast Division are investigating the shooting. They did not disclose how the girl was shot.
