More Blacks, Latinos Seen Attending College

WASHINGTON — Blacks and Latinos attend college in increasing numbers but are less likely to stay in school and graduate than whites, the American Council on Education reported today.

The ACE found that blacks, Latinos, Asian Americans and Native Americans gained in enrollment from 1991 to 1992, but the number of white students declined.

The report said 41% of Latino students, 32% of African American students and 30% of Native American students earn a bachelor's degree within six years. Rates for Asian Americans and whites are 63% and 56%, respectively.
