COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Saddleback Routs Orange Coast, 13-2

Saddleback scored 11 runs in the first three innings and went on to beat Orange Coast, 13-2, in an Orange Empire Conference baseball game Thursday at OCC.

Lorne Rosas had a three-run double in the first for Saddleback (7-5, 2-1 in conference), which scored six times in the inning. The Gauchos added one in the second and four more in the third.

Patrick Antrim had three hits, Wade Jackson, and Rosas had two hits and Ted Wilkes had a home run for Saddleback.

Dennis Crine (2-1) allowed four hits and had nine strikeouts in seven innings for Saddleback. Orange Coast is 3-8, 0-3.

In other Orange Empire Conference baseball:

Cypress 13, Fullerton 4--Israel Gonzalez went four for five, including three doubles, drove in three and scored three for host Cypress (13-4, 1-1). Eric Stevens added a three-run home run for the Chargers. Cypress scored eight runs in the sixth to take a 12-1 lead.

Tim Walker had a pinch-hit two-run home run in the eighth inning for Fullerton (7-7-1, 1-2).

Rancho Santiago 10, Golden West 6--Rancho Santiago (14-2, 2-0) ran its winning streak to 11 games with a home victory. Jamie Estrada had a single, double and home run and drove in six runs for the Dons.

In Orange Empire Conference softball:

Saddleback 6, Cypress 0--Laura Kesterson pitched a one-hitter and improved to 12-1 for host Saddleback (12-3, 2-0). Cheri Davis had a two-run home run in the second and a two-run double in the third for Saddleback. Shawna Bray and Lucy Jacobs each added two hits and an RBI.
