Aldyn McKean, 45; AIDS Activist

Aldyn McKean, 45, an AIDS spokesman who helped start the advocacy group ACT UP. Once a singer and actor, McKean appeared in the Broadway show "The Robber Bridegroom." He became a leading spokesman for ACT UP when it was formed in 1987 to campaign for AIDS patients' civil rights and for more research to halt the epidemic. McKean earned world attention last year when he was invited to address the Ninth International Conference on AIDS in Berlin.
