COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Rancho Santiago's Morris Sets Three Records in Victory

Michelle Morris set three school records and won her events for Rancho Santiago, which defeated Grossmont, 153-101, in Orange Empire Conference women's swimming Wednesday at Rancho Santiago.

Morris' broke records in the 200 individual medley (2:14.7), 200 freestyle (1:59.1) and the 100 butterfly (1:01.0). She was also on two of the winning relays--the 200 medley and 200 freestyle.

In nonconference golf:

Saddleback 364, West Los Angeles 394, Santa Barbara 401--Jerome Valentin shot two-under 71 for Saddleback. Teammate Jason McDaniel shot par at Rancho Park in Los Angeles.

In Orange Empire Conference softball:

Cypress 10, Golden West 0 (5, mercy rule)--Jackie Ruiz allowed two hits in 4 1/3 innings and Kristi Krebs had a bases-loaded triple for Cypress (20-5, 2-2).

Orange Coast 4, Saddleback 3--Stefanie Ritchey and Dru Obade scored on Nicole Kley's throwing error in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead Orange Coast (10-6-2, 2-2).

Kelsi Armbruster struck out six in seven innings for her sixth victory of the season and Tracey Colombo had three hits for the Pirates.

Rancho Santiago 2, Riverside 0--Jocelyne Patrick retired 14 of the last 15 batters she faced and allowed only one runner past first for Rancho Santiago (9-7, 3-1).

Saddleback 9, Long Beach City 0--Saddleback's Erik Berg swept his singles match against Rick Tran, 6-2, 6-2, then teamed with Billy Casas in doubles for another straight-set victory for the Gauchos (10-0).

In men's nonconference volleyball:

Golden West 3, Palomar 0--Andy Kijewski had 22 kills and Greg Reitz added 15 to lead Golden West (1-4, 1-4), 15-13, 15-13, 16-14. Palomar fell to 0-6, 0-5.

Orange Coast 3, Grossmont 1--The Pirates (5-0) moved into first place in conference play with a 13-15, 15-13, 15-3 and 15-3 come-back victory. Lance Perry led Orange Coast with 24 kills.
