SMALL FACES: Who better to re-record "Sympathy for the Devil" than Sandra Bernhard, one of the few people with lips to match Mick Jagger's? That's one of the songs that will be on Bernhard's upcoming all-music album, tentatively titled "Excuses for Bad Behavior, Pt. One." Most of the songs are originals, but in addition to the Stones number, there's a version of the late disco star Sylvester's "Mighty Real." . . . Chris Hillman has officially broken up the Desert Rose Band, saying that after 30 years of being on the road (he was also a founding member of the Byrds and the Flying Burrito Brothers) he wants to take a break to concentrate on songwriting.
