Nutrition experts encourage consumers to eat low-fat, healthful foods, but meat dishes remain the most popular choices on restaurant menus.

A survey of restaurateurs by Thomas Food Industry Register, a trade publication, found the favored entrees are meat and poultry, served 44% of the time. Pasta was second at 33%, followed by vegetarian dishes, 10%; fish, 9%, and salad, 4%.
