The Beverly Hills Planning Commission has elected member Hamid Gabbay as its chairman.
Gabbay, an architect, replaces Paul Selwyn, who in April must step down after completing his second four-year term, the maximum allowed by the city.
A 15-year resident who lives in the city's Hillside District, Gabbay was appointed to the commission in 1992. He will be chairman for one year. He previously served on the now-defunct R-1 Commission, which had reviewed applications for single-family homes. Those duties were transferred to the Planning Commission in December, 1992.
