Poly Football Assistant Feeley Moves Up, Takes Cuccia's Spot

March 26, 1994|From Times Staff Writers

SUN VALLEY — Tim Feeley, an assistant at Poly High, has been named the school's head football coach, replacing Fred Cuccia, who resigned in January to accept a similar position at Monroe.

Feeley, 42, served last year under Cuccia, helping to guide the Parrots to the Mid-Valley League title and a 4-3 record in the Valley Pac-8 Conference.

Feeley was the B football coach at Kennedy High from 1990-92 and a Golden Cougar varsity assistant during the 1988 and '89 seasons.

"The sky's the limit as far as I'm concerned," Feeley said Friday. "That's the way we're looking at it. We've got a great nucleus of offensive and defensive linemen returning from last year's team so we're looking forward to a good season. . . . I want to make Poly a football school again."

Poly posted an 11-3 record and won the 1990 City Section 3-A Division title in Cuccia's second season.

Feeley, a native of Saginaw, Mich., graduated from Chatsworth High in 1969 and earned his undergraduate degree in physical education from Cal State Northridge in 1976.
