Do you stare at your computer screen, eyes wide open, to make certain you never miss a word as the display moves upward? It's a mistake, says Frank Weinstock, a professor of ophthalmology at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine in Canton. Your eyelids work like tiny windshield wipers, brushing away irritant particles in the air and moistening the surface of the eye. If you don't blink regularly, the result may be itchy, burning eyes and vision blurred by dry cornea. Just do what comes naturally, Weinstock advises. Blink!
