HOLLYWOOD PARK : Migrant Worker Equals Mark

May 05, 1994|Associated Press

Migrant Worker overcame a slow start, wore down pacesetter Marmoe in mid-stretch and went on to win Wednesday's $46,000 feature race at Hollywood Park by three lengths.

Ridden by Chris Antley, Migrant Worker equaled the track record of 1:20 4/5 for seven furlongs.

Migrant Worker lost a step at the start from the outside post but quickly recovered, stalking Marmoe until the early stretch and then taking command under Antley's urging.

Migrant Worker paid $4.40, $2.80 and $2.60 as the favorite in the field of eight older sprinters. Marmoe returned $4.80 and $3.40, and Juliannus paid $3.20 to show.
