Firm On the Ball: Softbit Inc., an Irvine multimedia software publisher, has launched its "Interactive World Cup" software in anticipation of the 1994 World Cup championship, which is scheduled for July 17 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

Softbit's CD-ROM, a software storage medium similar to music CDs, is aimed at soccer buffs worldwide and includes a complete soccer history and media guide for the big event. The software includes translations in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. It sells for $49.95.
